Ohio Accessible Activities Facilities 

  • With summer fast approaching, many people will be taking trips all over the state. Summer, in Ohio, is a great time for many different outdoor activities. This is a great resource for anyone, including families that have someone with a physical impairment. The Ohio Department of Natural Resources created this resource to show all the accessible areas across the state. Whether you are looking for hiking paths, fishing areas, or hunting opportunities, this guide will give you everyone of them that are accessible across the state. This can be a great resource to share with families to help them plan an accessible trip this summer. 
  • Think about your career readiness in your current situation. How successful do you feel it is? Is there anything you would like to change? This collection of resources, from "Educational Leadership, ASCD, and Project Lead the Way, is your guide if you answered yes to that second question. In this collection, there are 5 different articles to help build career readiness in any school. The articles all have a different focus. Some talk about expanding pathways, others talk about embedding career readiness into academics, and others discuss work-based learning options. This collection is a nice summer read. The articles are short and don't need to be read together.

  •  By now, most of us are familiar with the great tools that are part of Charting the Lifecourse. If this is a tool you are looking to be more familiar with, block May 29 on your calendar. Charting the Lifecourse will hold a virtual event for SSA's and anyone else who would like to learn more. The event is via Zoom and runs from 9-12. Check out the link above for more information and registration.

Transition Activities / Teaching Strategies Click Here to Play February 10 Tidbits Go 4 It Now How many times do we incorporate Transition Activities into our everyday lessons? The answer is probably not a lot, and we are all probably guilty of doing it. The question then becomes if we do not show students that Transition is integrated and not a stand-alone activity, then they probably will never make that connection for themselves. This video and resources from NTACT and Transition Coalition demonstrate the Go 4 It Now Writing Strategy. This strategy uses the letters in Go 4 It Now as a mnemonic to frame students writing. This strategy can be taught as a IEP goal or as a Transition activity. From there this can be the same strategy the student uses no matter if they are writing about transition, in their ELA class, or even on the state assessment.
